Developmental Science Works!

WHAT IS DEVELOPMENTAL SCIENCE?

Developmental science is the interdisciplinary study of human growth and change across the lifespan, examining how biological, cognitive, psychological, emotional, social, and environmental factors — intersecting with culture, identity, and context — interact to shape learning, behavior, and potential. It is a lens for understanding the human condition in all its diversity, complexity, and possibility.

PURPOSE

Developmental Science Works is a public space and collections of writings where I explore, translate, and share developmental science content focused on how people grow, learn, and function within systems of work and everyday life. I would like to document my ongoing inquires, connecting research to real-world conditions, and tweeze out practical application over time. This space is open to the community for feedback, collaboration, and collective learning!

ABOUT LEONA

Welcome and thank you for visiting this space! I've taken a nontraditional path and that range of experiences is my strength. Over nine years in education and human service environments, I've seen how thoughtful support can unlock potential, and how its absence can hold people back. Those experiences have inspired Developmental Science Works, a public space where I explore, document, and shared applied insights from developmental science in real-world contexts.

In addition to my personal perspective as someone with ADHD, I also bring a Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Science as well as Community Health Science, Public Health. I shine a developmental lens to every environment I enter and will focus on how people grow, adapt, and live within systems, prioritizing the multidimensional elements of human experience—biological, cognitive, psychological, emotional, social, and environmental—that shape learning, behavior, and potential.

I hope you'll stick around and collaborate with me!
